Fundamentals & Applications, Maintenance and Calibretions

Course objectives:

• To obtain thorough understanding of the principles in liquid handling and correct pipetting techniques to ensure continuous accuracy
• To obtain thorough understanding of the principles in liquid handling and correct pipetting techniques to ensure continuous accuracy and reproducibility of results.
• To implement in-house pipette maintenance procedures and to be knowledgeable in pipette calibration according to standard norm.
• To improve working conditions by understanding the ergonomics of tools and the work environment.

Target group:

• Laboratory technicians and service engineers
• Individuals who are responsible for pipette maintenance and calibration
• Individuals who need to perform regular pipetting procedures

Course content:
Theory

• Principles in liquid handling and correct pipetting techniques
• Guidelines to proper handling and decontamination of pipettes
• Pipette calibration according to ISO 8655 and statistical analysis of calibration results
• Ergonomics of pipetting

Practical

• Correct pipetting techniques
• Pipette disassembly/assembly for decontamination
• Pipette calibration via gravimetric method

The course will be conducted in English but there are opportunities for translation.
